About

CYT offers classes over the course of three sessions during the school year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Weekly classes last for two hours and run for ten consecutive weeks. A variety of classes are offered in drama, voice, dance, and specialty classes that vary per session. Most of the classes are small to insure personal attention and growth. At the end of a CYT session, students will come away with improved skills in the area of emphasis. During the last week of class, a high-energy showcase is presented by each class to demonstrate to other students, family, and friends what they have learned.

Classes (Lafayette and Vermilion) Fall 2019 classes coming soon!

Classes are held every fall, winter and spring for kids ages 4 to 18. Each session is 10 weeks long with one class a week. Each session ends with a family showcase to see what the kids have learned. In addition, at the beginning of each session kids 8 to 18 can audition for the big shows which if cast would require additional rehearsal days.

"CYT Lafayette is a great way for your child to explore their creative side in a Christian atmosphere."

Kaedron Hall

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, I moved to Lafayette in August of 2015. I am currently the Middle School vocal teacher at Ascension Episcopal School downtown. I sing tenor in a local community choir, and I serve as music director and worship leader at Harvest Center Church. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. I went on to complete a Master of Music in conducting at Georgia State University. Music is my passion, and I am so blessed do what I love everyday. I love to laugh and have fun, but I can be a bit of a workaholic. In my off time I enjoy reading, journaling, and composing music. I find a great deal of joy teaching kids, and I’m so excited to join the CYT family.

Karissa Sorrell

Karissa has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and is the author of the poetry chapbook Evening Body. Her poems have also been published in a variety of literary journals. Madison Chandler

Hello! My name is Madison Chandler and I am a CYT alumni, and I am overjoyed to be teaching my second Act 1 dance class! I was in CYT for over 9 years and in over 25 shows! Dancing has always been a huge part of my life in CYT and out of CYT. I hope to make this class a fun and new experience for the future of CYT, learning new techniques, new styles, and having tons of fun!

Maria Williams

Maria was born in Lafayette Louisiana, she has always had a love for the dramatics. She has been teaching for CYT for the last 9 years and has loved it more than anything else she has ever been a part of. Maria is a graduate from ULL with a bachelors degree in Spanish and Criminal justice. In 2017 she started a non profit to fight against human trafficking. She has been a music teacher for the last 19 years. She feels it is a beautiful opportunity to be able to teach children instruments and vocals, and then to watch them as they grow and develop in their skill.
