Class Description

Have you ever wanted to see how the magic of lighting, sound, and the technical elements of theatre works? This a new and exciting class for those interested in learning about the technical side of theater. Students will be introduced to stagecraft techniques and practices used in the performing arts for lighting, sound, and design.

Maggie Martin

Maggie is super excited to be working with CYT in a new way and super excited to join the team! Maggie first worked with CYT as an Angelle Hall Stage hand while getting her BFA in Theatre with a Design and Technology concentration from ULL. While in school and after graduation, Maggie light designed for CYT and CCT. Some of her other work includes show such as Oklahoma, The Lion King, Singing in the Rain, and The Spongbob Squarepants Musical. Aside from CYT, Maggie also works professionally as a lighting designer at various theaters in Lafayette including The Acadiana Center for the Arts and The Hymann Center. Maggie has also set designed, stage managed, and even preformed for theatre in many capacities and can not wait to share her knowledge with CYT students!
