Class Description

This class will focus on choreographed swordplay, though a bit of hand-to-hand combat will be explored as well. Throughout the course of the session, students will learn the correct terminology, stances, and technique for the swordfighter. By examining clips of Hollywood fight scenes and exploring improvisational combat, students will find the balance between showmanship and realistic swordplay. Students will be presented with part of a duel that each pair will be responsible for fully fleshing out and completing by the end of the semester for the showcase performance.
*This class will not have a showcase performance, instead we will have a parent observation night.

Mitchell Prudhomme

Mitchell gained a love for singing and acting while performing in church productions as a young boy. He eventually became involved with several community theatres around Acadiana. He has directed productions at IPAL (New Iberia), Abbey Players (Abbeville), New Iberia Senior High, and Teche Theatre (Franklin), and performed at many more. Theatre is a huge part of his family as he met his now-wife while working backstage on a production at IPAL. Now, he is the father of two young children who also share a love for the stage.
