The fundamentals of jazz dance are found in many other styles including musical theater dance, making this class necessary for any aspiring dancer or actor. Jazz dance often utilizes modern music and features syncopated movements, energetic choreography, and complex patterns. In addition, most musicals feature a dance ensemble that is tasked with telling part of the story through dance. This class teaches students choreography and dance elements that can be found in popular musical numbers and will prepare students who are interested in being cast as a dancer in a show. You’ll learn the fundamentals, while building your confidence, stage presence, and style.
Brittany is a native of Lafayette, LA. She studied dance at Hamilton Academy of the Arts and is a Performing Arts Major with a Concentration in Dance at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. She has participated in the American College Dance Conference for three years and enjoys choreographing and teaching dance techniques in ballet, tap, and jazz. She has choreographed for three CYT showcases (Central), UL’s Dance Concert, Festival of Lights, A Night of the Arts, and many community productions. She is passionate about introducing youth to dance not only as an artform and discipline, but as a way to self express and be confident sharing their talents.
