Class Description

The fundamentals of jazz dance are found in many other styles including musical theater dance, making this class necessary for any aspiring dancer or actor. Jazz dance often utilizes modern music and features syncopated movements, energetic choreography, and complex patterns. In addition, most musicals feature a dance ensemble that is tasked with telling part of the story through dance. This class teaches students choreography and dance elements that can be found in popular musical numbers and will prepare students who are interested in being cast as a dancer in a show.

Kylee Burgess

Hello! My name is Kylee Burgess. I’m a 20 year old ULL student studying Speech Pathology and Psychology. I was born and lived in Lake Charles, LA for 9 years, then moved to Houston, TX and lived there until I was 18. I did competitive dance for 6 years and was on my high school’s drill team for 4 years. I love dancing because it’s the perfect mix of technique and theatrics! I am semi-fluent in American Sign Language and have the sweetest Goldendoodle named, Dolly (after my favorite country singer.) Currently, I am cast as a Girl in CCT’s Mamma Mia! I am so excited to be back on stage and can’t wait to start teaching!
