Class Description

There is no “one way” to direct a show. This class will present practical tips on how to be successful in taking charge of a large-scale production. Students will choose a script and use it to participate in hands-on activities they can expect to encounter when directing a show, such as blocking, scheduling, stage management, etc. By the end of the course, students will direct a scene of their choice, which fellow classmates will perform for parents.
*This class will not have a showcase performance, instead we will have a parent observation night.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 our dates, venue and class format may be forced to change.

Teacher:

Mitchell Prudhomme

Mitchell gained a love for singing and acting while performing in church productions as a young boy. He eventually became involved with several community theatres around Acadiana. He has directed productions at IPAL (New Iberia), Abbey Players (Abbeville), New Iberia Senior High, and Teche Theatre (Franklin), and performed at many more. Theatre is a huge part of his family as he met his now-wife while working backstage on a production at IPAL. Now, he is the father of two young children who also share a love for the stage. Mitchell is currently the President of Abbey Players and a member of the IPAL Board of Directors.
